Sister Mary Barbara taught in upper elementary grades in high school. She was an artist. During the last 25 years of her life, she spent most of her time doing art work, assisting in the libraries of the Motherhouse and St. Benedict Academy, and teaching part time in the academy.

Demetrius Augustine Luther, deceased, was well and favorably known throughout Cambria County, where he spent practically his entire life.l He was born in this county, October 29, 1855, the son of Jacob and Sarah (Bearer) Luther, now deceased.D. A. Luther familiarly known as "Pop" Luther, spent his boyhood in Cambria County and at an early age was employed in the oil fields near Warren, Pa. Upon his return to Carrolltown he opened a paint shop which he conducted for several years. He then owned and operated a planing mill and also engaged in construction work erecting some of the finest houses and buildings at Carrolltown and Patton. He was the first business man in this section of the county to install a private telephone line. In 1915 Mr.Luther purchased fromLuther, Lieb and Estep the hardware store, which he successfully conducted until his death April 27, 1924.
On June 3, 1884 Mr.Luther was united in marriage with Miss Josephine Yahner, thedaughter of Paul and Barbara (Long) Yahner. To Mr. and Mrs.Luther the following children were born:

Helena, joint manager of the Luther hardware business with her brother.

Mary, employed by Central Trading Corp.Politically, Mr. Luther was a Democrat. He was a directory of the Grange National Bank, Patton, the Carrolltown Gas Col and a member of the County Fair Association. He and his family have always been active members of the Catholic Church.
